10 Favorite Things: Issue No. 9

As we get ready to head into the weekend, I can’t help but look back on all that happened in the past week. From fun celebrations to super cute moments, this week was full of my favorite things.

10 Favorite Things

1.) You guys. I couldn’t be more excited about the new series that I launched on my site: 15 Questions. Here’s the first post in the series. Having always worked for small businesses, I’m all about spreading the word about the great work that so many small businesses are doing. From goods to services, the people behind small businesses are full of hard work, determination, creativity, drive, and passion. They also love to help simplify things for people. What’s not to love? So, I’ll be featuring really great small businesses that fit in line with helping people simplify. I’ve lined up some really great small businesses that I can’t wait to feature. Want to be featured? Check out the details.

2.) Every morning, I walk into my son’s room and say, “Good morning!” with a big smile on my face. He immediately smiles back at me. I believe how you start the day can set the tone for the rest of the day. So, why not start the day off happy? This week, I opened his door and he greeted me with a “Good morning!” Talk about starting the day off happy. Geez, that kid.

3.) This past weekend, we headed down to the lake house to hang out with my in-laws, enjoy all of the work that my father-in-law has done on the basement (read: incredible!), and celebrate my mother-in-law’s retirement with the neighbors. We had so much fun preparing the food, chatting with the neighbors, and spending time with each other. Sending huge congratulatory hugs to my mother-in-law for a successful career. Also, I’m sending major high-fives to my father-in-law for a job well done on the basement.

4.) My husband took our son on errands yesterday and they came home with a Mickey Mouse stuffed animal. I took Mickey Mouse out of the packaging, handed him to our son, and watched him give Mickey Mouse the biggest hug and kiss. He loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and asks to watch the “Hot Dog Song” on my phone every chance he gets. For those of you who don’t know what that song is, it’s what plays at the end of every Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episode.

5.) I’m in the process of growing my hair out. I seriously can’t wait to try hairstyles like this when my hair is longer. Oh, and click here for ways to change up your hairstyle without getting a haircut.

6.) This weekend we don’t have any travel plans so … guess what. We are potty training our son. Oh boy. I’m nervous, excited, anxious, and, let’s face it, dreading the amount of pee that I’m going to have to clean up around our home. If any of you have tips, please let me know! Wish us luck!

7.) It’s been so cold, rainy, and windy in our neck of the woods. Even though I love snow, I’m ready to feel warmer weather. I can’t help but think about the day I can put the boots away and live in my favorite outfit: Jeans, t-shirt, flip flops, and sunglasses. I could live in this outfit … oh wait, I do when it’s warm.

8.) I’m crushing on this kitchen. Do you love it?

9.) The other day, my son and I headed to Wegman’s to pick up our weekly meal items. Prior to shopping, I grabbed a couple yogurt parfaits, a coffee for me, and a milk for him at the store’s cafe. We sat down and enjoyed a mommy/son breakfast date. He’s only two and, with him sitting on the regular chair like such a big boy as he shoveled spoonful after spoonful into his mouth while glimpsing at the sports highlights on the television in the background, I couldn’t help but notice just how much of a little boy my baby is becoming. Ok … I’m going to stop talking about it before I have to grab the Kleenex.

10.) I’m really getting into meal planning … and I’m loving it. I’ve been meal planning for a few weeks now. I usually plan meals Monday-Thursday. My husband and I like to menu plan our weekend meals together. Do you menu plan? Here are other kitchen tips that I love.

What was your favorite thing from the past week?
