When it comes to dinner parties, I’m all about family-style dinners. I have a secret love (well, I guess it’s not a secret anymore) for serving platters. Filling them up with wholesome, delicious food and allowing dinner guests to help themselves is what I’m all about during parties.
Oh, and the more rustic, the better. I’m all about rustic elegance and simplicity.
Whether I line up the serving platters in a buffet-style or scatter them throughout the tablescape, ask anyone who has been to our house for a dinner party and they will say that I love a good family-style dinner.
Even though family-style is my preferred serving style, I always love a good plated dinner as well. There’s something so sophisticated and elegant about a beautifully plated dinner.
Just think about eating at your favorite restaurant. Don’t you get all sorts of excited when the server gently places your plate at your setting? One look at the beautiful food and your mouth is watering, right?
So, yes, plated dinners are amazing what with all of their elegance. And, I have to admit, when we’re having just a few people over for dinner, I sometimes break out of my comfort zone and go plated style.
But, in the grand scheme … family-style all the way.
What’s your preferred serving style?
