Mornings are kind of strange for me. I’m not an early morning person but I’m not a sleep in person either. Because I have a two-year-old who wakes up around 7:00 a.m. every day, I wake up to his cute voice on the baby monitor as he recites every word he knows. It is seriously the cutest thing.
I would love to wake up every day at 8:00 a.m. since I think that’s the magic wake up hour for me. But, since my son has other plans, we both crawl out of bed and head downstairs to start the day a little after 7:00 a.m.
We wake up the house by turning off the overnight lights, opening the curtains, letting the dogs outside, and enjoying breakfast together. Once breakfast is done, it’s either bath time / shower time or playtime. If it’s a school day, then we squeeze in getting ready before I drop him off at school. If he doesn’t have school, then we head straight into playtime before we get ready for the day (he tends to get messy coloring and playing with toys).
Hours can go by before I even have my first sip of coffee. But, I love coffee and it’s hard for me to wake up until I’ve had my first sip. I’m usually too busy taking care of our son to fix myself a cup of coffee. My husband made me stop the other morning, fix myself a cup of coffee, and enjoy it soon after I woke up. It was amazing.
Usually, I don’t enjoy my first sip until 9:00 or 10:00ish and it gives me the burst of energy that I need. Then, 3:00 p.m. hits and I fix myself another cup of coffee. I definitely need to focus a bit more on having drinking a glass of water as soon as I wake up and then fixing myself a cup of coffee soon after.
Which makes me wonder …
How much coffee do you drink?
For me, it’s usually two cups of coffee per day. I heard an interview of a celebrity who couldn’t function with less than three or four very large cups of coffee per day. I have an aunt who needs to drink a cup of coffee before bed every night.
I don’t drink any other caffeine throughout the day for the most part. If I do venture outside of drinking coffee, then it’s usually a glass of sweet tea. It’s hard for me to pass up sweet tea every once in a while.
