You guys. I’ve been blogging for seven years. Yes, count them. Seven. Years. Wow. And guess what … seven is my favorite number! So, I guess you could say that this is my blog’s golden birthday.
When I first started this site, I was quite a newbie. I had recently moved to a new state with my then fiance/now husband and wanted a way to stay connected to my family. Since I love to write and take photographs, I decided to enter the wonderful world of blogging.
So, I created a Blogger account, decided on a design, wrote my first blog post, and hit publish. My writing was out there.
Having started out as a food blogger, I found myself experimenting with ingredients, spilling flour everywhere, photographing all sorts of recipes, learning how to photograph food … I was passionate about my new passion.
After publishing countless recipes, a lightbulb went off in my head this past winter. Not only do I love baking and cooking, I also love decorating, gardening, organizing, decorating … basically everything that fit under the lifestyle category. So, I switched over to WordPress, applied a new design and theme to my site, and got to work creating content that fit the lifestyle category. Over the past few months, I’ve had so much fun publishing lifestyle-focused posts.
This world of blogging has opened so many doors for me. From meeting my current boss (CEO of Mom It Forward) over five years ago via social media to meeting incredible bloggers on trips. From publishing only my content to bringing on contributors to the site. From only writing about food to expanding into the lifestyle category. Not only has my blog grown over the years, but I’ve grown as well.
My mind is full of so many ideas for the future of How To: Simplify. I can’t thank you enough for following my blog over the years, months, or days. Your support, shares, likes, and comments have been incredible throughout the years. I can’t wait for you to see what’s in store for the future!
