Thanksgiving eBook…and it’s Free!

Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends to gather to express thankfulness, gratitude and appreciation. It’s also a time for turkeys, mashed potatoes, pies…and a little loosening of the belt. However, this holiday can also be very stressful, especially if you’re the one preparing the feast or hosting the dinner in your home. If you’re anything like me, you want the day to run as smoothly as possible, the decorations to be picture perfect and the food to taste better than ever. Having guests grab seconds and maybe even thirds makes it all worth while for me.

If you’re responsible for preparing or hosting the dinner, a lot of planning must be done well in advance in order to make sure the day is a success and that your guests leave with smiling faces and bulging bellies. Leading up to Thanksgiving, I always find it important to plan everything from the menu to the grocery shopping list. I also like to create a cooking planner since every dish has a specific prep and cook time associated with it. My goal is to always set all of the food on the table warm and fresh out of the oven. On the day of Thanksgiving, people can always find me spending the better part of the day in my kitchen preparing the turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, rolls, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole and pie after pie. It is because of all this planning and prep work that my Thanksgivings tend to be fairly stress-free…oh, and it might be due to my partner in crime in the kitchen…my little friend I like to call Chardonnay.

Knowing that this holiday can be stressful for the hostess with the mostest, Mandi from Life…Your Way put together this fantastic eBook complete with 64 pages of ideas and recipes to help make Thanksgiving less stressful and more enjoyable. In a collaboration of more than 15 bloggers, this eBook is filled with family traditions and activities, dinner recipes, pies and other dessert recipes, decorating ideas and even printables to help keep the planning organized.

Throughout the pages, you will come across a few of my recipes, as well as a turkey tip:

  1. Thawing a Turkey: Since Thanksgiving always falls on a Thursday, it’s best to start shopping for a turkey the weekend before the main event, especially if you’re expecting a big crowd. The larger the bird, the more days/time it takes to thaw. This page details a few ways to safely and appropriately thaw the bird for the big feast.
  2. Old-Fashioned Apple Pie: My family always loves to snack on pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, one of my favorite desserts of all time. However, there’s also another traditional pie that is typically served on Thanksgiving — the one and only old-fashioned apple pie. If you’re responsible for bringing dessert this year, this apple pie is guaranteed to be a huge hit.
  3. Pumpkin Bars with Cream Cheese Frosting: Even though pumpkin pie is a must-have in my family on Thanksgiving, these pumpkin bars are good enough to serve as a replacement. Trust me on this one.

As if this book isn’t perfect enough…it’s also free! Make sure you print your copy today to help you put together a successful and stress-free Thanksgiving!
