Strawberry Almond Oatmeal

I am a creature of habit when it comes to my morning routine. I wake up to my two dogs licking my face, staring down at me or rolling all over me…well before the alarm even thinks about making any sort of noise. Next up? Play time with the pups and breakfast while watching Good Morning America (and maybe a few photos of food if I have time). Then I put myself together and race over to the Metro to catch the train for work.
The one thing I absolutely cannot live without in the morning is breakfast. I’m a firm believer in the idea that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Orange juice, tea, milk, cereal, bagel, fruit, oatmeal, eggs, bacon, yogurt, granola…if you have some of these on hand then you have the makings for a delicious, healthy breakfast.

My absolute favorite meal to have for breakfast, especially when I’m in a hurry, is cereal. The only problem is that I go through cereal at an unbelievable speed…just ask my husband. I’ve known him for almost five years and he is still amazed at how fast I go through a box of cereal.

When I don’t have cereal on hand, which is often since I devour it like a madwoman, I usually turn to my second favorite dish: oatmeal. Oatmeal is so healthy and the flavor can always be cranked up a notch by adding fruits, nuts and spices.

  1. Mmmm, yummy! I normally use pecans and blueberries in my oatmeal, but I'm going to have to switch it up and give this a go- looks delicious!

  2. Okay, the cereal thing, hilarious. I am the same way. I will eat 4 bowls of cereal for breakfast if I have that first bowl. So I can't even start. Cereal is my treat, I will take it over dessert most days! My fave is TJ's low fat almond granola or any kind of sugary cereal with some kind of flakes and granola.

  3. i make it with milk, grated apples and cinnamon,
( you can also add some walnuts) it tastes also very nice,,, for a very healty breakfast :) cheers!!!
