30-Minute Chili

This is an easy and quick recipe for those who love chili at any time of the year. In 30 minutes, you’ll have a meal the whole family will enjoy. Plus, you might even have leftovers for the rest of the week.

30 Minute Chili

Prep time: approximately 10 minutes
Cook/simmer time: approximately 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb of ground beef
  • 1 white onion
  • 2 cans of Del Monte diced tomatoes (not drained)
  • 2 1/2 cups of V-8 juice
  • 1 can Red Kidney Beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 can of Great Northern Beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 2 cans of Hunt’s tomato sauce
  • 1 package of chili seasoning mix

Directions:

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet; drain grease after cooking.
  2. Chop the white onion into small pieces and add to the browned beef. Cook for five minutes to soften the onion pieces.
  3. Put browned beef and onion mixture into a large cooking pot and add the remaining ingredients.
  4. Simmer chili for 15-20 minutes.

Serve nice and warm and be sure to have oyster crackers, shredded cheese, cayenne pepper (to taste) and sour cream on hand, just in case!

Bon Appetit!

  1. All your recipes look like future parties in my mouth =) But I usually cook for only 1 or 2 people. Are most these recipes family serving sizes? Just so I can get an idea if i should scale down the recipes. I'm starting on the chilli first. Thanks!

  2. Anonymous: Thank you so much! I'm just like you…I usually cook for one of two people depending on my husband's work schedule. Most of the recipes posted on my site are family sizes (including this recipe). However, whenever I make recipes like this chili, I like to have leftovers to bring with me to work the following day. I love leftovers for lunch! Feel free to scale down the recipes if need be!

  3. i'm new to cooking and all your recipes seem really friendly to the beginner. just curious: do i have to brown the beef in a skillet? or can i just brown it in the pot?

  4. Anonymous: I'm so happy that you enjoy reading my blog! My main goal is to post recipes that only require a few ingredients (many of which are typically in the fridge or cupboards) and to make them as simple as possible. You can brown the beef in the pot, as well as saute the onions. However, just be sure to drain the fat before moving on to the next steps!
